Jordan Jenkins General I love this engine EMD GP60 CSXT 6897! She was the first EMD GP60 built and was demonstrator EMDX 5. I had the pleasure of working a few local road switchers CSXT O720 and a few yard switchers Y120, Y322, and Y223 with this engine when we had her in 2015 at Hialeah Yard in Miami, Florida. I know there are only 3 EMD GP60s on our roster and one is in storage. I wish there were more of them at CSX and that the stored one comes back to work! These engines have a lot of room in the cabs for a 4 axle and very comfortable seats too! Lol I was climbing up on this engine on O720 one night at the Mac Lead in Pompano Beach, Florida while unloading some sand hoppers to Conrad Yelvington Distributers ( they have an ex-CN GMD-1 and ALCO S-4 to switch with ) and I busted my knee up against the little metal flang that hangs at an angle over the top step on the conductors side. It hurt like hell but I managed to finish the job strong and return to the yard with no problem! These are the only EMD 4 axl 12/12/2017 1:31:12 AM
Jordan Jenkins General The EMD GP60s are the only EMD 4 axles built with the large V-16 710 prime movers too! The GP60, GP60M, GP60M-3, and GP60B all have the EMD V-16 710G-3A prime movers that produce 3,800 horsepower! They are turbocharged and sound like beasts when they are pulling! I'm glad I got to work on this engine CSXT 6897 and hopefully won't be the last time. 12/12/2017 1:35:19 AM
Jordan Jenkins General I apologize about not making it one comment but I'm on my iPhone and I stopped typing for a minute to text a friend back and it cut me off! I'm new to commenting on this website! 12/12/2017 1:36:42 AM
